About Me

Nice to meet you!

My name is Benjamin Matthews, and I live in the wonderful, albeit hot, city of Columbia, SC. I focus in full-stack software development, and love taking a project from idea to completion. I specialize in PHP and the Laravel Framework, but I also have experience working in C# and Go.

I first began programming in PHP in 2011. Since then, I have focused on rounding out my skills to have a solid understand of both back and front end technologies. I started out working with Wordpress, but have worked with several PHP frameworks, my favorite of which is Laravel.

In 2015, I received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. After deciding to not go to law school, I started my career as a full-stack software engineer, and have been in the field full-time for two and a half years.

When I'm not working, I love to get out and get active. I'm an avid runner, and am currently training for my first marathon. I also enjoy going rock climbing (though I prefer bouldering), and playing raquetball. If I'm not out running, you can usually find me in my office reading, playing the piano, or struggling to learn German.
